Sandalwood Veteran Dwarkish Passes Away at 81

Bengaluru, Karnataka – April 16, 2024: Veteran Kannada film personality Dwarkish passed away at his Bengaluru residence on Tuesday. The multi-faceted artist, who wore many hats as an actor, director, and producer, was 81 years old. He died to due to heart attack.

Born Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath in 1942, Dwarkish carved a niche for himself in Sandalwood. He was known for producing blockbuster films like “Rasika,” “Mayor Muttanna,” “Apthamitra,” and “Dance Raja Dance.” He was instrumental in bringing the legendary singer Kishore Kumar to the Kannada film industry for the first time, with their collaboration resulting in the hugely popular song “Aadu Aata Aadu.”

Dwarkish’s on-screen chemistry with the late Kannada superstar Vishnuvardhan remains etched in the memories of cinephiles.

The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the Kannada film fraternity. Tributes are pouring in for the veteran artist who leaves behind a rich legacy of entertaining audiences for generations.
